OOC Highlights:
Ruins & Fighting Rules Update, Doutaini Facebook Page.
The Stardust Festival has arrived again, but something doesn't seem quite right. A god for Enigma has been born, but will he be a mistake from the gods or a blessing? Time will tell as time runs out for one of Doutaini's wolves. A long time Alpha of Water, Rasmus, has died peacefully, but what will happen to Water now?
Updated 5-03-2013

After a long time of waiting for vengeance, Riddick and Discordia have finally made their move against Fior. Riddick called Fior to a deathmatch just as Discordia began to set the Gaia Temple ablaze. Earth is in panic! Prada and Rykerri have howled, calling for anyone that could help the Temple to do so, but how much of the Gaia will be burned or who will die in the smoke?
Updated 4-27-2013

Citron has stepped up and taken the place of Storm Alpha following Haya's purging of Liam. While Mercy has chosen to leave the pack, he will remain in her stead but it is unknown what his plans or intentions are for the wolves of the Valley. With Tekani being promoted to Alpha Female, what will the pair do to sate Haya's displeasure?
Updated 3-20-2013

In a fit of personal justice, Ryo has purged the Enigma pack and has sealed off the caverns from any who wish to enter. Taking a cue from Kiyoshi, the great god will only reopen the caverns when a suitable Alpha has stepped up and proven himself. How long will the caverns lay dormant, and what will the purged wolves of Enigma do?
Updated 3-20-2013

Haya has appeared in the Valley and has purged Liam from his rank of Alpha given his inactivity. She currently awaits among the clouds to watch in secrecy the wolves of storm arrive, curious if one of the pack will rise up to claim it as their own, or if a stranger will make the attempt instead.
Updated 3-05-2013

Enraged over Zeppelin's inactivity in the pack, Ryo has appeared in the Enigma caverns and has purged the once-alpha from the shadows. He lingers still, beckoning all of Enigma's wolves to him in a gathering but it is yet unknown what the purpose of this gathering truly is. With Zeppelin gone, what will be the fate of Enigma?
Updated 3-05-2013

The holy Willows are now witness to a horrific battle taking place. Several of Doutaini's alphas have found themselves pitted against one another, while the battle itself began with Baptist attempting to murder Megaera for her broken promises. In the hope of breaking up the fight, Fior uses his earth power but is then attacked by Leviticus, who believes he is protecting Baptist. Flush with anger, Ryker has now thrown himself into the fray and is attempting to overcome and kill Baptist. Who will live, and what will come of these packs whose leaders are now caught up in a fight for their lives?

Beside Kuro Pit, there is a dramatic change in scenery -- this little copse of trees provides a lush landscape for newcomers. In fact, it makes the lands beyond seem much more hospitable than if you had stepped into Kuro Pit first. In the center of the thick of vegetation that marks these borders, eight willow trees stand in as much of a natural circle as one could find. On each of these trees, a distinct marking has been carved into the bark: a flame for fire, a raindrop for water, a leaf for earth, a snowflake for ice, a series of curled lines for wind, a lightning bolt for storm, and a swirl for enigma. In the middle of this is the legendary hollowed-out stump where the Alphas may get their elemental necklaces from. If a rogue believes that he or she knows which element they were destined to be a part of, they should travel here, and stand before the correct tree to summon the Alpha of that pack. The Alpha, or other higher ranked member, will respond by greeting them, and bringing their element's necklace.

In a darker corner towards the south of the lands, there is an area that always seems to be shrouded in shadow. Dead trees fill what is known as the Kuro Pit- the claiming grounds of Doutaini. Almost no healthy foliage exists here, only tufts of dry grass and resilient weeds and trees. As head towards the center, the ground seems to cave into what could be called a large 'pit.' The inside of this hole is covered in a thick layer of mud- enough to trap an unsuspecting wolf. When it rains, the pit could be described as a virtual death trap for all those who wander in. It is in these lands, that all higher ranks within the packs of Doutaini will travel in order to pick up rogues. Male wolves will be invited by each pack who attends, and will choose the lands that suit their fancy. However, if you are a she-wolf or a pup, beware- you can be claimed by any pack, and you have no say in the matter. This is the only way Rebel pack officials will recruit new members, unlike the elemental packs who accept any who ask. Reminder -- 'Post comings' are not allowed in the Pit.

The Ice Packlands. The Gelid Sierra is made up of a chain of mountains, providing a magnificent view of the lands of Doutaini. Snow constantly seems to fall here, and temperatures are always bitterly cold. In fact, during some frigid nights, it can pass far below zero. Getting to the top of these mountains can be quite difficult, with the snow always pouring down so thickly, and the violent winds getting colder, but the few wolves who do reach the summit know -- it's worth it, if only to view the landscape from above. A series of caves exist within the sides of these mountains, awaiting their discovery- or rediscovery.

The Enigma Packlands. Enigma wolves must brave the winding tunnels of the Crystalline Caverns, which extend rather far into the earth before they come to an end at a huge, underground cavern. Stalactites and Stalagmites jut out from the rough, dome-shaped ceiling and floor. A small pinpoint of light streams down from a wolf-sized hole in the ceiling, bringing life and light to the otherwise desolate cavern. A variety of plants like grass and trees make their home here alongside the native fungus, leading one to believe that perhaps this place was not always underground. In the middle of the cavern is a large, black lake, providing hydration to all the cavern's inhabitants, but bereft of life itself. It is a good deal cooler here than on the surface, so a thin mist often resides near the lake. At night, the fungus lining the cavern walls glows an array of neon colors, and giving one the illusion of a starry night sky.

The Wind Packlands. This place was originally founded by an ancient pack called the Greator who dwelt in the area many, many years ago. The mountain where the Wind Pack dwells is taller than any other in Doutaini, the top of it even reaching up through the clouds. One would need to be a member of the Wind Pack to be able to reach the mountain's peak, or risk dying of exhaustion, being blown off the mountain, or being picked off by a member who actually belongs there. A system of caves that runs through the mountain, and the entire area is plagued by heavy winds, differing in speed and direction depending on the time of day or season. At the mountain's base is a small sapling forest which is full of birds and small rodentia- a perfect place for a quick snack.

The Rebel Packlands. Located within Styx heights is a huge gorge where the beginning of the Naveen River flows, harsh and turbulent. On one side of this gorge lies a massive cliff, littered with ledges, crevices, and caves worn into the stone over time, sits at the abrupt edge of the heights. One might originally find it impossibly to scale, until they notice the numerous narrow pathways leading from the top of the cliff to the bottom. There is very little plant life here, with the exception of a few dead trees resting at the top of the drop-off, and some resilient weeds poking out from crevices in the rock here and there. Aside from wolves, the only other creatures that make their home here are the occasional Mountain Lion- hence the name. It is an extremely inhospitable and barren place, but the wolves of the Rebel pack find it just to their liking. Only the truly athletic can safely navigate the stone pathways leading down the cliff and survive the tough climate there, or manage to swim to shore in the violent waters of the river, or fend off the wild cougars- namely, the prideful 'Mountain Goats' of Doutaini- the Rebel wolves.

The Storm Packlands. The sloping valley has witnessed many a naturally disaster in its time. This place seems somehow sacred and ancient, with its dark and dreary appearance. Some say that the deep crevasse running through the middle of the land was worn into the stone by the path of all the tornadoes that had made their way through the land. Violent thunder storms here are not uncommon here, lighting often having struck the many tall--and mostly scorched--trees on either side of the gorge in its past. Even so, these storms barely ever bring nourishing rain.

The Water Packlands. As one would expect, much of this area is covered in bodies of water, making it difficult to traverse for all but the water wolves themselves. While there is a small shore to the east, and lush foliage to the west, the rest is covered in springs, streams, ponds, and oceans. Fish are abundant, and there are usually enough to keep even the largest pack content. Interestingly, even on the coldest nights, the water here never freezes.

The Earth Packlands. This area is lush with vegetation all year round. In fact, there is so much, that at times it makes it hard to see your nose in front of your face, let alone walk. Therefore Gaia can be dangerous to traverse at night. However, this proves to be no problem for the agile Earth wolves that make their home here. In the center of this forest lies a temple, covered with vines and moss- attributes it has gained over its lengthy time in existence. At one point, one of the pack's alphas created a flourishing bamboo garden surrounding the front of the temple, with bamboo stocks that reach heights of fifty feet. It is a very holy place, with hieroglyphics of an unknown tribe etched into the stone walls. Ceremonies are usually held here by the pack's leaders, as the temple gives off a strong aura of the natural.

The Fire Packlands. It almost seems impossible that any kind of life could survive within this desert. Even in winter, the temperatures reach well over one hundred, and the supply of water is limited. However, its only residents don't seem to be too worried. Fire wolves, with the exception of various small mammals and reptiles, are the only creatures bold enough to make a permanent home here. Even so, life is still scarce, due to the blazing, or 'torrid,' conditions. There is only one pool of water -- an Oasis, if you will -- in the center of these lands, providing a small bit of shade and water for the pack.

The Divine Packlands. Recently discovered toward the end of the Shoshana Shore is a lustrous and beautiful cove. Shallow blue-green water gives way to flawless white sand as the stone structure curves into a natural grotto. Toward the back of this eerily glowing cove is a small tunnel, roughly about three wolves wide and two wolves tall. This dark tunnel goes on for nearly half a mile before opening up to a jaw-dropping sight. Hidden away for centuries now within the mountains of Doutaini is a fruitful, emerald meadow. Floral arrangements of every color imaginable dot the green, green grass as trees surround the pack-sized territory before giving way to the mountains that have concealed it for so long now. It is flourishing with life old ( but mostly new ) for the goddess whom rules over this land. Yet it is at night that this territory truly shines. Its namesake comes to be with the thousands of fireflies that dip and sway to the heartbeat of the thriving nature that resides here. These fireflies act as somewhat of a guide, leaving their electrified trail from the blossoming grasslands all the way back to the mysterious cove.

It is said that the fireflies occupy the land for Hotaru, should she be afraid of the dark or somehow become lost.

At the northern edge of Gelid Sierras, the mountains give way to an ancient caldera which has been filled by the pristine combination of rain, glacial melt and a freshwater spring. The water here is calm, inciting thoughts of peace and serenity with its lovely cerulean color. It is difficult to reach due to its steep sides, but time has worn away the southern edge, allowing the birth of the Naveen River, while a stretch of sandbanks are readily available for exploration and relaxation. Trout and other fish make their home here, attracting predators such as bears and eagles, so it is wise not to bring youngsters less they are carefully watched. During the summer, the water remains cool, but freezes in the winter, making it a popular attraction year-round.

With an entire pack dedicated to ice and living on a mountain range that is buried in snow all year long, who wouldn't expect there to be a river to accommodate all that snow melt? Naveen River is not a true river in all places, however. In some spots it branches off into a series of creeks and smaller streams such as the one going through the Serene Fields. The bands of the river are covered in lush foliage in most places, since the water makes the soil even more arable. The water is cold, for the most part, and doesn't start warming up until it has neared the end of its journey and mixed into the salty waters of the ocean. The river bends and moves through a large range of Doutaini, so there is always something different to discover along its banks.

This bizarre glade is a beautiful phenomenon. Frail trees make up a patchy canopy, allowing one to glimpse both the azure pasture of sky beyond and the leafy green ceiling of the glade at once. The grass is kept at its natural flowing length here. The glade is expansive, and comfortably fits many a family within its borders at once. During dawn and dusk, the glade adopts a veil of dew and a shroud of mist, giving it a ghastly facade that repels its common company. Though once the sun rises in the morning, the glade is an easy retreat for troubled minds.

Rumor is that this newly discovered peak is the less inviting Pit's counterpart. Unlike the Heights, falling to your demise is only a dormant threat, for the incline is hardly as steep. The slope is curtained with a blanket of grass that screens protruding rocks, increasing the chance of injury for an oblivious wanderer. The peak itself lacks the familiar blanket of snow, arousing curious rumors and false accusations. Its name is quite fitting, for wildcats have been known to lurk the borders of this treacherous domain, easily hunting down careless wolves for a quick meal. Wolves are not welcome here, and only the truly bold dare venture here.

Just to the south of Styx Heights is a complex collection of dribbling pools that make up this intricate display of waterworks. Not so much in the interest of a cliché waterfall, no other name could be shamed, and so, a random name was adopted. Lush vegetation provides an unwelcome border around the band of irrigated loops, giving it a green appearance much like algae, which appears most unbecoming. Geysers violently dispose of viciously hot jets of water that dance in taunting patterns in the air before falling to the earth, singeing unwelcome visitors.

This area is more commonly referred to as the sparring grounds. These ruins do not lie very far away from the Gaia Temple. This area seems to have once been another temple, however, unlike its counterpart, it had been ravaged in some ancient human war. Now, all that is left of the once magnificient building is crumbled stone. The land is barren of most foliage except the toughest weeds and patches of grass. It too dry for plants here, as it almost never rains. The Ruins received the title of sparring grounds due to its unfriendly appearance. While most wolves will fight next to the ruins, some enjoy the thrill of sparring on top of the unstable, degenerating stone structure, which can be very dangerous for both participants. Reminder -- 'Post comings' are not allowed in the Ruins.

Also called the 'mountain of fire', Mt. Pyralis is actually a small, active volcano located near Styx Heights. Mt. Pyralis doesn't erupt often, however, a few stories of disastrous incidents have been passed down through the generations of wolves. In recent history, these stories were confirmed when the volcano released a magnificent eruption that clouded Doutaini in a blanket of ash. Surrounding areas, such as the Willows and the Fields, witnessed the devastation as lava scorched the landscape, crippled nature, and wrought havoc in the otherwise peaceful territories. Presently, should a wolf venture near this now wakened force of nature, if they look close enough, they may find their way down into one of the tunnels or chambers below the volcano. Plumes of smoke and ash still burst from its crater, though there really is no threat from flowing, active lava - less you venture towards the top - just hot magma beneath the surface, which leaves the ground warm in most places and heats the pools of water, producing a nice, hot-spring or sauna-like atmosphere.

The old pack lands of the Devout, now a neutral territory for the wolves of Doutaini to roam. This expanse is much like its name would suggest - Golden. The grasses that stretch for miles across the even ground primarily towards the west are a bright, yellow hue, giving the impression that this green life is dead due to a lack of rainfall that is caused by the mountains in the south. However, patches of emerald sprout from place to place among the bunches of wild flowers that are equal in contrast to the waves of gilded plains. To the east is a large compilation of rock formations that have been carved by the elements into rather strange shapes, suggestive of religious symbols, and a sign of the god's possible interference with their creation. Past these unique structures and to the north is a flat surface of smooth, pale gray stone. In places the rock has turned white, resulting in optimal reflection from the sun, and is a perfect location for sunbathing, as the lands are always filled with light. Clouds and other heavenly obstructions do not often find their way into the Plateau's sky, allowing for a continuous beacon to illuminate the territory by either the light of the burning sun or a pregnant moon.

A quiet grove of dew laden grass, where curling vines of ivy twist amongst the graves. Tiny sprigs of wild lavender blossom and scatter themselves throughout the area, while pillars of lush moon flower climb up the elm trees. At the head of the overgrown field there stands a willow, gnarled and aged and old beyond knowledge. The silence here is unnerving, the aura is that of ended legacy. Here lay the in quiet ease, with nothing left but to reminisce on nights they felt alive. Lay your wolf at Para Siempre, where their time within Doutaini will not be forgotten.

If you have had a character die in Doutaini, feel free to create a board for them, decorate it as you wish and describe the tombstone or marking they have over their corpse. Wolves may gather here simply to visit the dead, spirit wolves sometimes acting as a guide in hopes to conjure those last words from the deceased on to their family.

This extreme labyrinth of traitorous traps is a wonder in itself. Mysterious unknown crystals profile the cave walls in a splendor all its own. They give off a luminous glow, hardly enough for a guided trail, but enough so that one could remove themselves from danger with a curious wit about them. At the very center of the caverns, there's a glimmering pool with the gems manifesting at the bottom, giving off an hypnotic blush that radiates off the distant caging walls and entraps feeble minds.

Remaining relatively unknown for centuries the swamp is an area of Doutaini that surpasses even the pit in foulness; desolate of life a dank blandness folds itself around the forgotten land accompanied by a thick unyielding mist that skims the floor eerily. Occasionally the ground falls away unexpectedly to holes from where trees once stood, debris and fallen relics of a land once lush give a new meaning to natural destruction. Dangerous pits of thick and treacherous mud are found in abundance here waiting to trap anyone who is not cautious with where they walk. Shrubberies and tough little plants are all that can survive here now, apart from one singular tree – gnarled, squat, lifeless and riddled with moss and vermin it stands lost in the weaving estuaries and false paths of the swamp. The very air itself seems sucked of anything mirthful, damp and dank this place is riddled with sin, despair and creatures lingering beneath the murky water – crocodiles? Perhaps.

With the name of Hades' river mixed in, it certainly is as dangerous as it sounds. The 'heights,' as some people call them, are numerous cliffs and drops, all usually ending in a thicket of thorns, or just rock bottom. It is not the place for a younger wolf to travel, as the crumbling rock makes for poor footing. It is a dry, barren place, the landscape a dull grey hue. Very few animals inhabit the Heights, besides the raven and buzzard -- two birds who feel no moral wrongs in eating the insides of a misfortunate canine.

If you're an adrenaline junkie looking for a chilling experience, this is where you want to be. Hakai Mists Forest is probably the largest forest in Doutaini, excluding the packlands. It's an eerie, gloomy, place; its canopy dotted with ravens and the like that cast shadows upon its dark greenery. The trees come in all different sizes, and undergrowth is plentiful and crowds the forest floor. Its difficult to walk through, and the forest canopy is so dense that there's barely any light that streams down through the leaves to reach the forest floor. Regardless, plants are abundant here, and a thick mist still seems to be able to creep around the vegetation, nearly knee-high in some places.

This area isn't very far away from the ocean side of Cerulean Waters. Though during daylight hours, it is nothing more than a tranquil shore, when the sun begins to fall from its point in the sky, an almost magical thing happens. Not many wolves ever get to experience the ocean sunset, and it is certainly something to brag about -- especially here. The sun seems to reflect against the water so perfectly, so brilliantly, that it seems to transform into a little spot in Heaven. Even when the moon is out, the reflection is much brighter than an average ocean could give off. Sometimes, hopeless romantics, or someone who just wants a friend, will travel here in the hopes they will find what they're looking for.

The soul mirrors. Originally a part of the Torrid Desert, the sand-covered area is now dedicated to those who died during the fire pack mutiny. Left in the wake of the magma manciples cast by the two ex-Rebels, Vexx and Rat Valentine, two crystal plates stand out from the barren landscape, reflecting twin suns in the scorching heat of midday and sister moons in the cooler cloak of night. Twisting down into the earth, just as the swirling vortexes of lava at the climax of battle, the clear glass forever holds the memories of those who were consumed. A viewer at the edge of the connected graves would observe glinting fragments of shattered necklaces, exploded in the immense heat, but not melted; their properties of stardust have enabled them to last for eternity, souls of the fallen.

These meadows are mainly used for hunting within the packs. The grass is quite tall, making it easy to hiding from prey. Although deer, birds, and other small mammals are usually found in the most numbers around here, it is not uncommon for bears and even cougars to linger here, due to its plentiful supply of food. The name 'Crimson' comes from the strange, burgundy glow that the sun always seems to give the area. Very few trees are scattered about, making it easy to make a dash towards your prey.

The Serene Fields are the safest of all neutral lands, and thus are often the choice spot for pup outings with their pupsitters. It is a peaceful place, with long grass to hide in, and an array bright wildflowers to romp around in. The sky is usually clear here, providing a slight but refreshing breeze, the perfect spot to rest weary paws. There's even a small stream trickling towards the middle of the fields, and a few scattered trees for shade on those warm days. Because of its expansive view of the sky, it is the perfect place for stargazing, or cloud spotting.
